Aramaic fragments found among the Dead Sea Scrolls confirm the circulation of Enochic material in the Second Temple period. The Israel Antiquities Authority dates its featured 4Q Enocha fragment to roughly 150–50 BCE and identifies it as Aramaic.1
A fuller textual tradition survived in Geʽez within Ethiopian manuscript culture. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church includes Enoch in its canon and credits Ethiopia’s tradition with preserving the work.2
These traditions are the historical ground of the project. ENOCH is an original dramatic adaptation—not a claim to reconstruct the ancient text literally.

Enochic writing endured in fragmentary Aramaic witnesses, in a complete Ethiopian textual tradition, in religious memory, and in continuing scholarship. Its imagery—the Watchers, forbidden knowledge, transgression, giants, judgment, and the pre-flood world—still provokes interpretation because it makes power inseparable from consequence.
No invented popularity metric can describe that reach. The manuscripts, traditions, translations, and scholarship already do.3
